Mother-in-Law v. Dog

Eating Habits of Mother-in-Law Versus Dog

I just made it through another holiday visit by my mother-in-law (MIL). Though there are many things she does that get me upset (read: piss me off), her lack of class when it comes to eating tops the list. While sitting in my favorite chair, which I finally regained control of, and watching her make her nth trip of the day to the fridge, the following thoughts came to mind:

Dog:    Will mainly eat from a plate or bowl.
MIL:    Will mainly eat without a plate or bowl.

Dog:   Will eat from a spoon or fork.
MIL:    Prefers to use fingers.

Dog:   Prefers to eat in kitchen or under the table.
MIL:    Prefers to eat wherever.

Dog:    After eating, will emit silent but deadly odors in a quiet "who me" like manner.
MIL:    After eating, will emit foul smelling odors, complete with accompanying sound and body movement, wherever, whenever, and in front of whomever.

Both:    Will lick their fingers (paws) after eating.

Both:    Will fight over the fatty gristle.

Both:    Will eat until stuffed.

Both:    Will get up, run around and bark when someone enters the kitchen.
