All I Wanted was Shampoo

All I Wanted was Shampoo

A few days ago, All I wanted was to take a shower and wash my hair. Not a daunting task for a 40+ year old. Finding no
shampoo in my shower, I went scavenging through the other bathrooms in the house. Looked in the showers, looked under the sinks, looked in the cupboard, looked all over for "shampoo". I found all types of containers that contained the word "shampoo", but ended up settling for the old soap trick.

You have to understand that I am over 40, balding, and have a "crown" with a fair amount of hair on top. The hair is not long,
but short. My days of long hair, ears covered, over the collar, blowing in the breeze when I run, are long over. When I feel my hair moving in the wind, it is time for a cut. I buzz my own head with a #2 every few weeks saving $20 per buzz. I am graying more rapidly than I would like. I do not comb over, under, or through. I do not gel, mouse, foam or shape. Sample sizes, like you get in a hotel, can easily last me a week. My remaining hair and I are not high maintenance.

So later on that day, I went to the store to buy some "shampoo" for me, myself, and I. What I discovered in the hair care aisle
was mind boggling. So I had to narrow down my choices through process of elimination.

My hair is/does not:

Dyed
Streaked
Highlighted
Shine
Revived
Permed
Long
Thick
Damaged
Dandruffed
Split
Oily
Curly
Color enhanced
Thin dry
Medium dry
Thick dry
Sensitive
Fine
Residued
Smooth
Refreshed
Medicated
Built Up
Weatherproof
Ultra Hydrating
Tangled

I do not want my hair to smell like:

Watermelon
Strawberries
Berry
Herbal
Ocean
Raspberry
Lemon Tea
Ginger
Apple
Green Apple
Grape
Lemongrass
Lavender
Papaya
Sea Kelp
Mango
Waterlilly
Clove
Sap
Chamomile
Candy
Bubblegum
Seaweed

So after over 20 minutes in the aisle, what was I left with?

A compromise.

A small container of baby shampoo that won't make me cry.

All I wanted was shampoo.

Perfect! --I'm glad I'm not the only one who wanders down that aisle with that "I'm lost and confused" look on my face.
